This summer Basin Spring Park Comes Alive with Six Sundays of Art + Film(Eureka Springs, AR (June 4, 2012)- The Eureka Springs Downtown Network (ESDN) brings together Art + Film in their annual film festival in downtown Eureka Springs. For their 4th season ESDN is showcasing selected local artists prior to showing a classic film in Basin Spring Park.The Art + Film Festival starts June 10, 2012 and runs every Sunday evening to July 15th. The films are shown outdoors starting at dusk in Basin Spring Park located in the heart of downtown Eureka Springs. Prior to the film the selected artists will be showing their work on the big screen; allowing the audience to experience their work on a very grand scale. The artist will introduce the selection and be on hand for a short question and answer session prior to the film.
The schedule is as follows:
June 10: Jana Robison is the featured artist and the film is The Great Gatsby. On this particular evening the show will start with a Pop Up Theater performance featuring Youth Theater and the "Hysterical Historical News" which was selected as part of the Arkansas Heritage Month Grant program. The 15 minute production features four vignettes about Eureka Springs notables and the work they did in Eureka Springs.
June 17: Jeremy Mason McGraw is the featured artist and the film is Hear My Song.
June 24: Zeek Taylor is the featured artist and the film is 42nd Street as part of the Eureka Springs Pride weekend.
July 1: Artists from Eureka Thyme Art Gallery are featured and the film is Niagara.
July 8: Edward Robison is the featured artist and the film is The Music Man. This is also in support of the Main Street USA Festival in celebration of ESDN becoming an official Main Street city.
July 15: Larry Mansker is the featured artist and the film is An American in Paris in support of the Fleur Delicious Festival - a French flavored weekend in Eureka Springs.
The events start at dusk in Basin Spring Park and are pushed over the glamour edge by having "Cigarette Snack Girls" from Fine Art of Romance in full costume serving concessions from Peace Love and Cheesecake. A percentage of the proceeds from the concessions are donated to ESDN for future programming.
The event is free thanks to the generous sponsorship by the Eureka Springs Preservation Society, Fine Art of Romance, Cottage Caboodle, Peace Love and Cheesecake and the 1905 Basin Park Hotel.
