Pea Ridge celebrated 150th Anniversary

On the Pea Ridge site 150 years ago, a combinations of 26,000 Union and Conferdate soldiers fought. The two day battle ended 3,400 lives. Today the historic cannons placed next to each other in an orderly fashion line the grassy fields. Starting this Friday in Bentonville, AR officials from the Pea Ridge will stage events that commemorate the anniversary of the battle.
In addition to the staged events the park plan to add candle luminary. The battle was one of the bloodiest west of the Mississippi. Volunteer will place 3,400 candles around the park, for each fallen soldier.
The park is a close car ride about 20 to 30 minutes from Eureka Springs, its a lovely place to bike ride and reflect on the historic battle. The park also transverses the "Trail of Tears." A sign comemerate the trail.
