King and Queen of Eureka Gras Mardi Gras selected. Krewe of Krazo annual Kings Day Kick-off event at the Rowdy Beaver Tavern in Eureka Springs on Saturday, January 8, 2011 beginning at 5p.m.
Lamont Richie,has been selected as King Krazo VI for the Krewe of Krazo Eureka Gras Mardi Gras carnival season. Lamont Richie is co-owner of the Quicksilver Gallery on Spring Street and serves as Transit Director for the City of Eureka Springs and is Vice President of the Board of Directors for the Arkansas Transit Association. Recently, Lamont was elected as a Justice of the Peace to sit on the Carroll County Quorum Court. He is also a member of the Board of Trustees for the Eureka Springs Carnegie Library. Operated Rock Cottage Gardens Bed and Breakfast Inn for 10 years.
Peggy Kjelgaard, Queen Eureka VI who will reign over the Mardi Gras festivities for 2011. Peggy holds a Ph.D. in education. She has served as a leader and global consultant in the field of Knowledge Management in the private sector and has also served as a university professor in teacher education. She has also taught in public schools as a special education teacher for learning disabled and visually impaired students. Peggy served as Executive Director of the Eureka Springs School of the Arts; and currently holds a seat on the Mayor’s Art Council, and is a member on the Board of Directors of the Eureka Springs Artist Registry.
