Award designates Spring Street as one of 10 Great Streets for 2010
The citizens of Eureka Springs celebrate two major awards to the community at a reception on Wednesday, October 27 at 4:00 p.m. in the Nelson Gallery, upstairs at 37 Spring Street.
The event celebrates the American Planning Association (APA) award designating Spring Street as one of 10 Great Streets for 2010 under the organization’s Great Places in America program.
APA Great Places exemplify exceptional character in communities of lasting value. APA singled out Spring Street for its originality. Through Great Places in America, APA recognizes unique and authentic characteristics found in three essential components of all communities – streets, neighborhoods, and public spaces.
The afternoon will also celebrate the national recognition of Eureka Springs as a 2010 Top 25 Arts Destination by American Style Magazine. This is the sixth year the community has received this honor which recognizes public support for artists, arts institutions, galleries and festivals, and the contribution of the arts to community good will, economic development and tourism.
The Celebration Reception is hosted by the Eureka Springs Downtown Network, the Mayor’s Arts Council and the Office of the Mayor for the City of Eureka Springs.
The public is invited. For more information, please contact Diane Wilkerson or Glenna Booth, 253-9703.
